#SelfieSurgery

Have you ever accidentally flipped the camera on your iPhone and caught an oh-so-unflattering photo of yourself?

How about a FaceTime chat where you noticed your crows feet more than your conversation? A Skype session have you focusing on your slightly thin upper lip?
Our present generation’s version of “face-to-face” is “screen-to-screen”. With “Selfie” having been added to the Oxford Dictionary it was only a matter of time before the selfie generation introduced us to the latest in cosmetic trends, #SelfieSurgery(yes, hashtag included).
A poll performed by the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery found that 13 percent of their out of 2,700 members had reported an increase in requests for procedures from patients concerned with bettering their social media selfies.
While the majority of social media users are not seeking facelifts and reconstructive surgery, lip fillers, laser treatments and skin tightening treatments are the most requested. The AAFPRS reported that 75% of the #SelfieSurgery driven patients are requesting minimally invasive treatments with little to no downtime.
How else would they get back to Snapchatting so quickly?
